13-lined Ground Squirrel (Spermophilus tridecemlineatus)

This squirrel has an alternating pattern of dark brown and yellowish tan stripes down its back. The dark stripes contain evenly spaced white dots throughout. Active only in daylight, this animal hibernates from winter until March or April.
