American Elm (Ulmus americana)

The American Elm was once a very common tree in this area, but now is being threatened by Dutch Elm Disease, which is caused by a fungus carried by elm bark beetles. The leaves of the American Elm are non-symmetric with teeth-like edges. The leaves turn a bright yellow color in autumn.
